Prabowo Supporters Rally in Jakarta, Pledge Loyalty Without Seeking Government Posts

Supporters of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said at a mass gathering in Jakarta that they would continue backing him through 2029, stressing they want no official positions but demand loyalty from those in power.

 — JAKARTA | Thousands of supporters of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto gathered on Sunday at the Pencak Silat Arena in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, East Jakarta, vowing loyalty to the president while stressing they are not seeking government positions.

H. Kurniawan, chairman of the Presidium of Prabowo Volunteers GCP (Gerakan Cinta Prabowo), told the crowd that repairing the country in difficult times would not be easy and called on supporters to stand firm behind the president.

“Do not think that our silence means inaction. Do not let Prabowo fight alone. We, the people’s movement that helped elect him president, must support him until 2029, and if necessary for the next five years,” he said.

Kurniawan emphasized that members of the “Presidium 08” network remained united.

“We have never fought over positions, we have never begged for office. But we are angry when groups are given positions and betray Prabowo Subianto. Maybe Prabowo can accept that, but his loyalists cannot. Never betray Prabowo!” he declared.

The mass gathering, called “Apel Kebangsaan” or National Roll Call, aimed to demonstrate the volunteers’ loyalty and to urge the president to act decisively.

Kurniawan outlined five appeals: that Prabowo safeguard the nation, dismiss aides who show disloyalty, frequently visit the regions to understand local problems, and strengthen unity among supporters in nation-building “based on truth.”

“Do not let Prabowo struggle alone. There are too many enemies who dislike him, from dark oligarchs to corrupt elites,” Kurniawan said. [■]
