On the ground, the initiative featured a series of community-driven programs: free health check-ups, local MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) empowerment, donations for orphans and underprivileged families, and a children’s coloring competition.
Speaking to the participants, GPN 08 Chairman Safrin S., S.H. highlighted the organization’s 16-year journey, which he described as “grassroots-driven and deeply rooted in over 300 regions.”
He emphasized the group’s focus on agricultural self-sufficiency and food security, particularly through community training programs on planting cassava, maize, and managing land resources.
“We’ve issued local mandates across the archipelago. From producing our own fertilizers to guiding farmers on sustainable practices, GPN 08 is committed to building an economically independent Indonesia,” Safrin said.
According to Safrin, GPN 08's agricultural agenda aligns with broader national development goals.
“Fertilizer access, production, land management, and post-harvest marketing must be addressed holistically,” he added.
The discussion focused on strengthening the organization’s role in promoting grassroots economic resilience as Indonesia eyes its centennial in 2045.
While official development plans often focus on top-down strategies, GPN 08 positions itself as a bottom-up movement, advocating for community-based solutions to national challenges.
Their message is clear: the road to Indonesia’s golden era must start with empowered local economies and sustainable agricultural reform — built from the ground up. [■]
